GM Arts Prize 2018 Shortlist

The standard of entry for this years GM Arts Prize is again truly inspiring in its breadth of subject and standard of presentation . The judging panel consisting of Castlefield Gallery Director Helen Wewiora,  Artist, and 2017 GM Arts Prize winner Helen Davis, MAN Diesel’s Legal Counsel and Northern Art Collector Louise Durose , and Alistair Hudson, newly appointed Director of the Whitworth and Manchester Art Galleries.

This years sponsors were again Fred Aldous and GF Smith

After deciding on this years GM Arts Prize 2018 shortlist, and looking at the images below, the judges are going to have an incredibly hard task to choose this years winner(s), we have some fantastic contemporary art to view and you will be able to see all the shortlisted artworks at the Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery Exhibition from 12th May – 8th June 2018. This years GM Arts Prize consists of 14 artists showing 18 pieces of contemporary art from video, photography, painting, mixed media, and ceramics. (Please note that the two video pieces were not available at the time of posting the blog) Only one name from last years shortlist features this year, Iain Andrews

You can also compare this years shortlist to last years HERE

As is usual I have reproduced the images in no particular order. Which would be your choice?………Enjoy
